CASUAL CLASH

Today is a sad day because it ends my sweet nephew's visit. We took him and my sister to the airport this morning. The house seems frozen without "the baby" and I can't tell you how much I miss him already. :-( Before I start crying again, let's move on to the outfit.

Most would say that nothing I'm wearing matches. Who says you have to match? I believe there is a time to match and a time to step out of the box and have fun. Matching all the time (for me) is boring! One of my fave things to do is clash prints, colors, and textures. Do you clash or are you a matchy matchy kinda person?

I wonder if there's some sort of psychological perspective on the matter. What does either/or say about you? If you like to clash are you a messy, unorganized, spontaneous individual? On the contrary, if you match everything are you a neat and organized planner? Humm...something to ponder. lol

Tartan blazer and striped top: Ralph Lauren
Jeans: Avenue
Scarf: H&M
Earrings: Vintage
Nude flats: Target

This is a fab-o mix. It's good inspiration for all of us who aren't as daring with mixing because it's quite subtle and very wearable for everyday.

LOL @ your analysis. Not digging too deep into that or I'll confuse myself! Anywho, I'm a lil' bit of both. Being matchy-matchy all the time is boring but someone that does it to perfection and it never comes off boring is Blair of Atlantic-Pacific.

Anywho, you do a great job of clashing prints; you got a keen eye for that sorta thing.
I think you look positively fabulous! The leopard scarf is the perfect topper.
I sometimes think my look is pretty boring because it is a bit matchy.

Umm what are you talking about?! You match! I love this look in that it represents every day swag...when a blogger can be pulled together without doing the absolute MOST all the time!

I think you have a real eye and a great flair for combining prints and patterns. I think you really need to have an eye to do that kind of thing well, and you have it!

I think there's something to your observation that an individual's tendency to mix and match prints and patterns or to match everything says something about their personality, but I think, for me anyway, it says more about how secure you are as a person, and how secure you feel in your environment, and how confident you are. I tend to play it safe, because I'm not that secure in my visual abilities, and I like soothing colors. I'm also uncomfortable with prints, unless they're a small component of the ensemble, like a scarf, or other accessory. I'm trying to break out of that comfort zone, and recently I wore a rhinestone headband, a multicolored beaded necklace and silver clutch to a holiday party. I wore a lot of neutrals with the outfit, though, so they provided a backdrop for the accessories.

Once again, I over-think the whole thing! I need to get a life!

I love the mis-match of your prints here! Looking good!! Prior to starting my blog, I was a matchy/matchy person. I actually still can be at times, but watching wonderful bloggers like you inspire me to step out of my box more and more everyday. Thanks! ;D
