BLACK HISTORY MONTH

February is Black History Month. During this month we pay tribute to the contributions our black ancestors have made to us and our nation. One of my favorite black ancestor's is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. King's efforts to end racial segregation and racial discrimination ultimately ended his life but his legacy lives on. He wanted us as a people, not just black people, to live together united as one nation. I believe that Dr. King would be proud to see how far his great initiative and wonderful words of encouragement have brought us!

It is important to learn about our history. ALL history!! Some people believe that one race built this country and that is false. ALL races helped build this country. I encourage you to read up on some of your black history. You may be surprised at what you learn! Did you know that a black man invented peanut butter? The 1st traffic light? The water guns your kids use?

It is my prayer that we continue to live as one nation under God, loving one another as God loves us. John 3:16 says: "For God so loved the WORLD (not a certain race) that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Because some of my ancestors came from Africa, I wanted to start off Black History Month by wearing an African inspired outfit.

“Free at last, Free at last, Thank God almighty we are free at last.”
― Martin Luther King Jr.

BEAUTIFUL POST!!!!! I want to see more of that necklace... :))
I read a book of Dr. Kings's speeches. The one he gave the night before he was killed made me cry.
So many young people (of all races)do not realize how awful it was for people of color and women in the 50's and 60's.
You look lovely in your outfit. Love the necklaces.
Thank you for reminding everyone about Black History Month.
