ME

Hey Y'all! I had an outfit post to share tonight but I decided to do something totally different. Tonight I would like to share some personal things about me. I think it is fun to find out a little bit more about our blog friends. It is obvious that I love fashion but it is important to know that that does not define me. I am a true living being with a job, family, responsibilities and a BIG personality! haha Hope you're in the mood to read! ;-) 1st fact about me...I LOVE to read! Here is one of my favorite reads.
Career wise I am an Executive Administrative Assistant and I currently work with Mechanical Engineers. They are all men!! Don't get excited they are soooo not eye candy!! LOL Any who, I have worked with all men my entire career. I started out in the Air Force and then worked in the Aerospace industry for a few years.

I only have an Associates Degree in Business Administration but I am a very hard worker and have always worked my way up. I have thought about going back to school but then I think....ahhh NO!! School bores me. lol I know that does not sound good because education is very important but I am just being honest. My husband on the other hand is what I like to call a "career" student. He will have his Master's next year and is already looking into Ph.D. programs!! smh He is very smart and I call him my "NERD". haha My hubby is also a preacher and works in the health care industry. He is very quiet and humble. He is a great father. He loves me to pieces and I love him right back. We have been together since 1996.

Below are a few pics of me in the Air Force, my typical work attire and my hubby.
I have a 10 year old daughter who keeps me very busy with all of her school projects and extracurricular activities! She is in 2 forms of dance. Ballet Folklorico and regular ballet. She is also in piano and figure skating. Lately its all about the hair, nails, American Girl dolls and cell phones. She does not have a cell phone but thinks she is getting one for Christmas (no way at 10). lol Here is a picture of my daughter with long hair and then after she begged me for weeks to cut it. Can you believe it!

I LOVE the New York Yankees!! I rock this hat often on my chill days!
I have wonderful neighbors that both my daughter and I adore. We are all very close. Here is a pic of us hanging out one night. We had just had Pink Berry. These kids LOVE to pose for the camera! haha
Personality wise I am a pretty straight forward person. I have my moments of goofiness and I love to laugh. Don't leave the door open for me to get a "punch line" in because I will take it!! haha I give good and honest advise with your best interest at heart. I am not a jealous person. I don't see the need for it and how does being jealous of others or their things profit me? I love to see everyone succeed and will help you in that effort in any way that I can.

I have 3 tatoos. I was young and stupid! haha My mom had her nose pierced so I begged her for one and she pierced my nose when I was in the 5th grade. I was made fun of a lot for it but I thought it was beautiful. It was a small diamond stud. I wore it all the way through high school and then removed it when I joined the AF. I think it still may be open. I got my belly button pierced when I was in the AF and one morning I woke up and the ring had come out. My uniform pants used to rub it and it tore out. EEWWW!!
My mother was a model and a jazz singer. She has a degree in Psychology. My father started law school but decided it was not for him. He was very popular in high school and was the senior class president. He and my mother both ran track. My mom was very fast and won many state competitions. My father ran cross country. He now works for our tribe. I have 3 sisters and 3 brothers. All are successful in their own right. My mom and dad had a short relationship and were never married.

Here are a few random facts about me.....I love watermelon. I buy one every couple of days during the summer and I have literally eaten watermelon for dinner. I remove it from the rind, cut it up into small chunks, put in bowl, refrigerate and then eat from that bowl for days!! I love to thrift but I also shop retail. My favorite stores are Macy's, Dillard's and Nordstrom. I also frequent TJ Maxx and Marshalls! My favorite on-line store is ASOS.com and I am an eBay-a-holic! lol I only buy things on sale!! Yep, I'm cheap! haha
I am a bit of a neat freak but my closet looks like a tornado just went through it. I have my days when I sort of let the house go and then when I can't take it any longer, I clean like a mad woman. Dirty bathrooms...I will not use! I would rather "hold it". hee hee I am obsessed with washing my hands. I take notes of co-workers that walk out of the restroom without washing their hands. LOL I don't eat everyone's food (see sentence before this sentence). LOL I love watching movies. I get a movie from the Redbox daily. I am a hopeless romantic and love "chic flicks". One of my faves!
Pet peeves: Chipped nail polish, people that talk over me while I'm talking, people that brag, people that see you need help and don't offer it (like holding the door when my hands are full). Men or women that think they are "ALL THAT"! I have a thing for teeth. I love straight white teeth! I wash my makeup off every night and I still have problem skin. I love Jesus because He 1st loved me. I once was lost but now I am found. I serve the Lord with all my heart and all my mind and I shout it from the roof tops. I am not ashamed of my JESUS!! I am a work in progress. Jesus works on me daily! I need to read my bible more!
I will not drink or eat after anyone...not even my husband or child. Wierd! I know. I love music. ALL music. I listen to country, jazz, rock, Spanish...ALL OF IT!! I love Martin. He is flippin hilarious! I have all the episodes! I can't stand clog shoes. I think too much jewelry looks a mess. I am a good cook but I don't like to cook. haha I have not always been plus size. I fell and ruptured two disks in my back and could no longer run or exercise like I used to. I love the smell of rain in the desert. I don't like men that degrade women or women that degrade men. I wish I could take every child that needed a home into my home.

This one may throw you for a loop...I'm a Republican! I love makeup and have tons of it but I don't really wear it like I could. I love dogs. I do not and will not wear a thong! lol I read every blog that I visit. I can tell if you read mine or just comment on the pictures (I'm watching you). lol I love chewy candy but am not a huge fan of pastries or chocolate. Chocolate must have nuts or I will not eat. I am very kind to everyone UNLESS I'm PMS-ing!! lol My favorite perfume is Coco Chanel Mademoiselle. I would die without lipstick! I am not afraid of many things. Not even snakes or spiders but I don't like confined spaces or fast cars. OK...that is all. lol

With Love,
Kiah

you are so interesting...i don't even know where to comment from! Lets just say, some of the info i expect, some had me going "really?". sorry about your spine...
This was so special Kiah! I really loved the inside scoop! Youre a beautiful person!
ok so we have way to much in common, LOL. i too LOVE martin. i have seen every episode. i am a neat freal as well, and i also have a 9 year old (sister) who reminds me soo much of your daughter. and, i love me some Jesus too!!

great post; you make me wanna do an "about me" post :-)

~nic
the American educational system is totally different than the belgian system! i have a master degree in education, so that is my specialty! we don't have elite universities like harvard or berkley! everyone can start at a university of their choice! we only pay like $700 entrance fee! we don't have league tables either! always been interested in the American educational system because it is completely different than ours!
TFS. I don't tell much about myself on my blog because I figured no one would want to know. Now you have me rethinking that.

This quote made me laugh so hard because I can so tell, too! - I can tell if you read mine or just comment on the pictures (I'm watching you). It is SO obvious when one doesn't read the post and just comment on the pictures. Like, I'll clearly say, "This a dress." and then someone will comment, "I LOVE YOUR SKIRT!" *le sigh* Epic fail.

Not a fan of clog shoes, either. Martin and his show was very funny back in the day. Hopefully, he'll get back to that level. I haven't jumped onto the eBay wagon, yet. I just sell my clothes on there. I mean, I have bought an item or two but I don't "shop" there.

Thanks for sharing your family. You guys look awesome! I especially love your Air Force pic. You look fierce and lovely! I don't believe we should ever stop pushing ourselves and to always seek knowledge and self-development...spiritually and culturally. So its super cool that your hubby is pursuing his Master's and PhD. What a fab family!!!

I love this post. It really allowed me to learn more about you! We have a little in common. I love Jesus, I wash my hands all the time, I love thrifting and I dont really like to cook although Im pretty good at it lol. I feel like I might end up being a career student like your husband lol, even though I'm sooooo over school at the moment! I also read all the blogs I visit...if someone takes the time to write up a post, obviously they want you to read it right?! So why not read it? lol. Thanks for sharing this with us. You have a beautiful family!

I really enjoyed reading this post, Kiah. I'm glad you decided to share these things with us. You have a beautiful family! My daughter is turning seven in two days and she thinks she's getting a cell phone for Christmas too. I think not. -_-

I laughed so hard when I read that you take note of coworkers that don't wash their hands after using the restroom. I wish I would have thought of that. I'm always leery of everyone and their germs. Especially when I see so many folks picking their noses at random lol.

I'm a big Martin fan too! My mom has every episode via the DVD boxed sets so I just take some from her house every time I go. I think my favorite episode was when Gina went to work at Shenehneh's salon and burned Myra's perm out haha!

Thanks for sharing this! I feel like I've bonded with you somehow :) Great post!

PS: I can LIVE on watermelon & Texas hands down has THE best watermelons i've ever tasted.

Kiah you are fabulous!
I never say my fears out loud and I think your smart not to eat or drink after people. I love watermelon too with salt on it.
I love chewy candy like Milk Duds but I also love Atomic Fireballs.
Jesus was the greatest man to ever live and thank goodness for that.
I cannot believe she cut all her hair off but I know the feeling. Somedays I would like to shave my head.
I dont like rude people or narrowminded people. My bestie is one of those who talks over people. She would drive you crazy.
Anyways, I can tell you are a beautiful person. My daughter has told me twice that you are her favorite blogger.
Love, Sarah
Oh, Kiah, this is wonderful. I loved hearing all of this about you and loved seeing the pictures of you and your loved ones (and watermelon eating monkeys).

"She's Come Undone" is one of my favorite books EVER. I think it's awesome that you have an Associate's and work your way up in your career. Any degree is an accomplishment, but as someone who has "just" an Associate's myself, I know how sometimes you can feel like it's not enough. Thanks for showing me that it is!!

What I love most about you Kiah is how honest & loving you are. You can see that your love radiates through your story telling - whether it's your love for fashion, family and even God.

What a blessing to get to know you even better... not that I haven't been lol I've been pouring over some of your old posts and even been showing the hubby all of your fabulousness lol but this post was great.

A woman about style & substance, I love it... just as much as you love watermelon ;)

Wow! You put it all out there!LOL! I think you are gorg!

My brother forces me to watch old episodes of Martin all of the time so you would get along well with him!

And I agree...a ten year old does not need a cell phone!
Your Air Force picture looks beautiful. You are truly the most regal woman I have ever seen.
I love watermelon too! It is my favorite melon. In the summer I can almost make myself sick eating it.
You do have the most beautiful white teeth and such a lovely smile. I did not have the luxury of braces when I was young, so my teeth are very crooked.
I so enjoyed finding out about you. The thing that surprised me the most is that you are Republican. Girl, I would never have thought that.
You are such a genuine good person and I am so thankful that you are blogging and sharing with all of us.

Very stylish family!

I'm not surprised your daughter wanted to cut her hair- we want what we don't have. When I was a kid, my bestie wasn't allowed to cut her hair, and I wasn't allowed to grow mine out. As adults, she always had short hair, and mine was long until just last year. When it spontaneously went from bone-straight to curly.

Your AF pic, btw, is almost frighteningly beautiful

The resume boomer is the site that most people would apply for because they are the most well connected site which can truly increase the odds of you getting selected for a job. The jobs that they offer are not only good and most of the time s they are so good that you cannot help but accept them even if you do not want to actually apply for such a trade. Career Success Without a Real Job is for those millions of organizationally averse individuals who would like to break free of corporate life so that they have complete control over their lives. It will also benefit the millions of baby-boomer "retirees" who want to continue working, but not in a traditional corporate setting. 5 Things To Check to a Readable ASCII Resume You need to wear a suit to your interview. Even though many teachers dress comfortably when they teach, both men and women need to present a professional image when interviewing. Many educators are criticized for not dressing more professionally, and many people think this brings down the profession. Dress like a professional and you will impress the professionals who have the power to say yes.
