WELCOME TO MY HUMBLE ABODE

Hey Y'all,
As most of you know my husband and I are from Arizona. We moved to Dallas 2 years ago so that my husband could obtain his Master's of Theology degree. My husband's degree plan is 4 years and we have been here 2. Let me tell you..it has not been an easy adjustment to say the least. For starters we moved from a 2000 sq ft home to an 800 sq ft apartment. The school has a living quarters for single individual's and another for married couples. We decided that since we were new to the area it would be a good idea to move into the married couples bldg. Incidentally, we live on a street that on one end has multi-million dollar historic homes and then on the other end (our end) it is pretty much the ghetto!! lol  It is so hilarious when people ask where we live and when we say say the street they are like....WOW!!! We are like aaahh NO...on the other end of said street!! lmko

Here's a little description....this building is gated and requires a gate key to enter (thank GOD because as previously stated we are not in the best neighborhood). We have carts out front like at the grocery store to bring our groceries up the elevators and to our apartments. Each floor has 2 washers and 2 dryers that we all share. We have a courtyard that contains a pool, grills and picnic tables. The kids often play in this area. We also have a game room/party room on the 1st floor. The doors to our apartments are like those in a hotel (a long hall with doors on each side). We have become very close with our neighbors and often plan dinners together. We leave our doors propped open so that our children can easily go from one apartment to the other while playing. It really is a wonderful community of believers (in Jesus Christ) and I couldn't imagine living anywhere else. I wanted to share a couple of pics of my sweet little apartment. My home in Arizona was decorated in the Tuscan style with large furniture and lots and lots of decorative accents so to save money I just used some of what I had (we got rid of the rest). I haven't bought ANYTHING new for this apartment but I think I will finally break down after 11 years and buy a new tv. haha I was thinking about re-decorating but I think I will just save my money and wait until we move into our house! One thing is for certain, these living arrangements have humbled me greatly! Our living arrangements are sometimes inconvenient or uncomfortable but I realize how much the Lord has blessed me and I am so grateful that He has surrounded my family with amazing neighbors that we have developed great friendships with!

Lesson: Cultivate a grateful heart. (1 Thessalonians 5:18) The more we develop an attitude of gratitude for the gift of salvation and life He has given us, the more true our perspective of self. A grateful heart is a humble heart.

Your place looks comfy and cozy...I love small places. I used to live in three bedroom on a 1 acre of land that was hassle. The best place I ever lived was a little two bedroom apartment.

I'm sure it was quite an adjustment moving to a smaller home like you said, but you've done a great job decorating and making the place look great even though it's less space. Nice blog!

Good luck with everything. You have a beautiful family and youre happiness is clearly visible!
